Singapore – A Sporting Island
Singapore is a small island nation located in Southeast Asia, known for its highly developed economy and diverse cultural heritage.
While it may not have the same sporting culture or infrastructure as larger nations, Singapore has made significant strides in recent years to develop its sport industry and support its athletes.
Singapore has invested heavily in building world-class sports facilities and hosting major international events, such as the Youth Olympic Games in 2010 and the Southeast Asian Games in 2015.
The government has also established initiatives to promote sports at the grassroots level and provide support to talented athletes, such as the Sports Excellence Scholarship program.
Tennis features strongly as an activity and sport that is very popular on the island.
There are many places to play tennis in Singapore.
Here are some of the options:-
- Public tennis courts – there are many public courts located throughout Singapore, which can be booked through the ActiveSGwebsite or app.
2. Private tennis courts – there are also several private tennis clubs in Singapore, which offer memberships and tennis programs. Some popular options include the Singapore Island Country Club, the Tanglin Club and the American Club.
3. Hotels – many hotels in Singapore have tennis courts available for guests to use, such as the Marina Bay Sands and the Ritz-Carlton Millenia.
4. Community Clubs – such as the People’s Association and the Singapore Sports Council also offer tennis facilities and programs.
5. Condominiums – some condominiums in Singapore have tennis courts available for residents to use.
The weather can be quite variable and frequently wet in Singapore with high humidity – so maybe a covered court is quite a good option!
